INTRODUCTION

 

We are beginning our study of chemistry.  Amazingly everything in our universe of is made up of matter; and there are only about a hundred or so different  kinds of matter.  Yet all this matter is made up of the exact some part.  What is so unbelievable is that on the tip of your finger, there are literally billions upon billions of atoms.  Event though we can not see them with our eyes, we know that they are there!

 

 

THE TASK

 

This self paced tutorial will guide you through our introduction to the world of atoms.  By following the worksheet, you will be able to satisfy the three objective of this lesson.  First, you will acquire an understanding of development of atomic theory and how it has advanced with advance in technology.   Second you will be able to name and locate the three basic subparticles of an atom.  Lastly you will know the required nomenclature to continue our unit in Chemistry.

 

 

THE PROCESS:

EVAULATION:

 

1.                     Student finished the worksheet in a neat and orderly fashion with 85 to 100% accuracy.

 

2.                     Student finished the worksheet in a neat and orderly fashion with 70 to 85% accuracy.

 

3.                    Student did not finish the worksheet and/or their accuracy was less than 70%.

 

 

CONCLUSION

 

This webquest was our introduction to Chemistry.  Understanding the how the advancement of technology since the early Greeks has changed our perception of what makes up matter.  As technology continues to advance we will know more and more about atoms.  In this webquest we learned the basics of atomic theory and the parts of the atom, which will serve as springboard for understanding of later lessons.
